[WORKSHOP #01 RECAP] Understanding Channels & Choosing the Right Strategy: Omnichannel – AI – AOP

[WORKSHOP #01 RECAP] Understanding Channels & Choosing the Right Strategy: Omnichannel – AI – AOP

Three strategic pillars for rapid, sustainable growth and scaling among Vietnamese SMEs.

Last week, PNP Vietnam, in collaboration with PNP Canada and AI Leaders Vietnam, successfully hosted "Webinar #01." Over 60 SMEs participated to discuss growth strategies in the era of omnichannel retail and AI. A central question throughout the program was:

>> Should businesses open new channels when they spot an opportunity, or only when they are ready to execute? From the perspectives of strategy, operations, finance, and AI, the speakers converged on a single message:

>> Sustainable growth stems not from pursuing more opportunities, but from selecting the right ones and possessing the capacity to execute them effectively. Webinar highlights included:

Omnichannel – It is not about having many channels, but creating a unified experience. According to Ms. Minh Hung Le, Founder of PNP Vietnam, every distribution channel has unique requirements regarding operations, personnel, finance, and systems. Omnichannel is not merely about opening additional sales points; it involves connecting channels to deliver a seamless customer experience and optimize business performance.

Global Expansion – Expand based on data, not expectations. Mr. Huy Nguyen, CEO of PNP Canada, noted that an initial order does not prove a market is sustainable. SMEs must validate demand, gather data, and expand incrementally rather than growing based on intuition.

AI – Start with the business problem, not the tool. According to Ms. Le Uyen Thao, Founder of AI Leaders Vietnam, AI creates value only when it addresses the right problem. Businesses need to identify priority use cases, select suitable solutions, and measure ROI before scaling investments. AOP – Beyond revenue planning to growth management.

According to Ms. Tran Thanh Nu Tuong Vy, Digital Finance Advisor at PNP Vietnam, an effective Annual Operating Plan (AOP) must enable businesses to manage revenue, cash flow, costs, inventory, and investment efficiency across individual channels. Allocating 70% of resources to core operations and 30% to innovation is a strategy worth considering for SMEs. Three key strategic concepts for SMEs include: Omnichannel—not merely having multiple channels, but delivering a unified experience.

AI—enabling faster, more accurate decision-making. AOP—managing resources for sustainable growth. Opportunities always outnumber available resources. Successful enterprises are not those that pursue the greatest number of opportunities, but rather those that select the right ones, execute effectively, and expand only when truly ready.

We sincerely thank the more than 60 SMEs that joined PNP Vietnam for Webinar #01. We look forward to seeing the community again at Webinar #02, which will feature even more practical, hands-on insights as we continue to support Vietnamese businesses on their journey: PNP VIETNAM | GROW LOCAL & EXPAND GLOBAL www.pnpvietnam.com.vn
